Mane Event reaches goal for Baytown homeless shelter
Mane Event raised 30000 dollars for Baytown area homeless services at the Goose Creek Country Club on February 20. BAHS founder Mack Cook, who died last year, was honored as Gilbert Santana drew the roast and toast. Pete Alfaro noted Cook’s decades of service starting in 1978, housing 17 people and two dogs in a single weekend, and the shelter's early roots forming Baytown Sheltering Arms. Betty Cook and Trey Cook represented the agency as portraits of the founder were shared and memories stirred strong emotion.
