Mendoza family seeks new prosecutor over fatal Baytown crash

The Mendoza family petitions Harris County DA to reassign the case of Jorge Alberto Mendoza 22 struck and killed on I 10 near 610 East Loop. Lauren Nichole Timmons 22 told police she had five drinks and left the scene. Prosecutors dropped intoxication manslaughter. family hopes for reinstated or similar charge. Signatures collected at Mendoza's mother's house today and Saturday. Timmons will be sentenced March 21 for failure to stop.

Burglary Reports and Police Beat in Baytown

Baytown police logged burglaries in recent days with a vehicle burglary at South Burnett Drive missing tools worth about 1000 dollars. A residence on Hackberry Lane lost a toolbox and lawn mower valued near 400 dollars between March 3 and 10. A home on East Point Boulevard was burglarized during the day with jewelry and cash taken totaling about 3780 dollars.
