Hospital Beds Added in Houston Veterans Hospital

A. Li. Koonce received a new three year contract as superintendent of Crosby Independent School District. The agreement runs July through, terminating in 1961. Koonce began duties in Crosby after joining the district in 1958 from prior work with the Davied schools. He holds degrees from Sam Houston State Teachers College and the University of Houston. He and Mrs. Koonce have a daughter, Claudia, a Crosby High School ninth grader, and they are active members of First Baptist Church where Koonce is a deacon.

Texas Senate Resumes Debate On Women's Rights Issue
In Austin the Senate voted 20 to 9 to resume talks on a women's rights constitutional amendment. Lt Gov Preston Smith overruled before debate could restart, while Senator Dorsey Wardleman argued the measure is dead after the Houses rejected the proposed amendment. The Senate later voted 16 to 13 to refer a bill barring girls from attending Texas A&M to the Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.
