The school board will meet Friday night with Dr. E. V. Huffistutler of North Texas State University, its newly hired consultant to employ a new superintendent. Trustee Glenn Lippman said.
A color film titled Between The Dark and Daylight is to be shown at St Pauls Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. Wednesday as part of a midweek service. Rev Harold Q Bombhoff will deliver a devotion titled Obsessions Obsessions.
A public reception planned Sunday March 23 at the Community Building auditorium from 2 to 6 p.m. honors Fritz Lanham who resigns to become director for state local relations in Gov. Preston Smiths office. Lanham served as city manager five and a half years with his family among the invited guests.

Three new vice presidents were elected by Citizens National Bank board on Tuesday as E Reginald Brewer Ralph H Kunz and Lynn McCage assumed the roles Brewer and Kunz were assistant vice presidents and McCage remains comptroller Brewer a Baytown resident since 1947 joined the bank in 1959 and has a banking education from the University of Houston Kunz a San Antonio native joined in 1964 after 14 years in banking and is active in local organizations McCage joined as comptroller in 1965 and began banking in 1959 at Texas National Bank He lives with his wife Dianne and four children in Baytown

Texas senators passed a stricter liquor law revision with no debate raising fines for minors who lie about age to buy alcohol and increasing penalties for sellers who knowingly provide liquor to minors. The measure would boost minimum fines for minors to 25 dollars and allow license revocation up to six months for sellers. The bill also lets officers arrest without warrants those observed violating liquor laws. House action pending.
A Baytown man, S. M. Turner, 38, drowned in Seabrook Canal at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday after a car skidded on a rain slick bridge and plunged into eight feet of water near Seabrook shipyard. Turner and driver Jack Walthall, 27, of Pasadena, worked at Jay Marks Chevrolet in La Porte. Walthall escaped, was treated and released that night. Turner’s body was recovered about 45 minutes later and autopsy pending at Harris County morgue. Funeral set for Thursday at Earthman Funeral Home Chapel.
Col Henry Dittman will address Baytown Reserve Police Association at the annual banquet set for 7 p.m. Saturday at The Tower. A Baytown native and retired Air Force officer, he led the Paris office of the U.S. Air Force in Europe and served as USAF liaison to the French government. A capacity crowd is expected with city officials planning to attend. Dittman will speak on Leadership and Youth.
Baytown City Council meets to weigh street repair priorities and a proposed $100 across the board pay raise for police and firemen. Budget constraints exceed $200,000, with bids opened for floodlight work, pool landscaping, water line projects, and sewer service to new developments.
