The Baytown district board heard that a 2.8 million campaign total set a new United Way record for Baytown while Alamo and San Jacinto Elementary Schools stood out. Peter Hyland urged caution in selecting a new superintendent noting internal candidates and hinting at an administrator in district service as a possible fit. The board approved a workshop on Thursday to discuss the search with a firm, heard updates on the 2009-2010 budget and enrollment, and reviewed BGK Architects for a new Lee High Annex wing and ALP conversion. A $26,385 license expansion for five schools and 15 licenses for Goose Creek Memorial was approved, part of the 2005 Instructional Technology Bond. A $6,000 Houston A Challenge donation was accepted to support the Preparing to Dream program, with HISD HISD inter-agency steps to streamline Medicaid paperwork.
