Wisconsin Expansion Bid Portrayed as Major League Setback

In a Wisconsin anti trust case, prosecutors paint National League owners as skeptics who rejected Milwaukee’s 1965 expansion bid to replace the Braves. Bud Selig testifies that Miami Beach owners dismissed plans by a Wisconsin syndicate backed by 4.3 million, while figures argued attendances and capitalization would not meet NL standards. O Malley indicated he opposed expansion unless Milwaukee’s political climate improved, with a possible resubmission in late 1966.
