Bay Pollution Study Aims For Sept. Start In Bay Area

Houston AP report notes a 25 million, three year water pollution study for Galveston Bay and the Houston ship channel will begin Sept. 1. Texas Water Pollution Control Board chair Joe Moore said the program costs 3.175 million annually, financed by federal funds, private Texas Air and Water Resources Foundation contributions, and industry fundraising efforts.

John Fox Named To Draft Board Here

John R. Fox, 40, of Ti Clayton Drive, Baytown, was appointed to Baytown Selective Service Board No. 63 to fill the vacancy created by Elton Porter of Seabrook who resigned weeks ago. Fox, a disabled World War I veteran, served 20 months in the 20th Infantry Division in the Philippine Islands, was wounded, and spent months in a hospital. He was born in St Louis, Missouri, attended St. Louis and Lee College, and studied at the University of Houston. A United Carbon Co. employee for 20 years, he is a vice president and board member of United Asharmi Credit Mason. Fox is active in volunteer fireman work, Methodist Men, and AFL CIO activities in Harris County. He and wife Lorene Prinzer have two children, Lana Denise and John Fox Jr.
