James Allen Bradbury 85 died Tuesday evening in a Baytown hospital after a long career as a grocer. Funeral services set for Thursday at Paul A. Lee Funeral Home with minister A Hugh Clark officiating. Burial at Hill of Rest. Survivors include widow Eva, daughters Mrs A M Dahlquist and Mrs K Z Wright, sons Aubrey Lee and Robert, sister Mrs Mary Weaver, all in Texas.

Martin Mallen 70 of Kansas City Kansas died recently. He was husband to Daisy La Porte Ballentine Mallen, La Porte’s first baby. Mallen had long operated a business in Kansas City before returning to La Porte with his wife to visit friends.

A Houston mother Sally Dominy 35 and her two year old Judy remain in critical condition at San Jacinto Memorial Hospital after a two car crash on Highway 146 near La Porte Monday night. Sally’s husband Henry Dominy and his brother Clyde Dominy were killed in the collision. Also injured were Mary Alford 27 of La Porte and Russell Cambra 31 of Kamah in fair condition. Double graveside services were planned for Henry and Clyde Dominy at Ivy Cemetery Kennard. The Art Simpson Funeral Home of La Porte is handling arrangements. Police cited uncertainty over who drove Cambra’s car which was on the wrong side of the road.
Senate Democrats seek a mid afternoon public compromise on a House approved $29 tax cut plan. They hope to recover some revenue loss by repealing stock dividend relief, while avoiding a filibuster. The House bill would cost about $2.3 billion yearly. Senate aims to separate tax relief from extensions.
London reports say the Hungarian Communist party condemned Premier Imre Nagy for errors in policy as the purge began. Harry F Hartman chief of Baytown Refinery engineering division and school board member was named chairman of the Baytown and East Harria County Community Chest at a reorganization meeting Tuesday night. New and retiring directors were announced including Norman Hargrave R L Martin Sam Paine and five new directors.
