Baytown plans design phase for mall area as anchors face retail shifts
Mayor DonCarlos outlined a multi-project growth plan for Baytown, including a new state-of-the-art 911 Information Technology Services Center behind the Baytown Fairgrounds, ongoing ExxonMobil and Chevron Phillips expansions, Enterprise Products isobutane unit in Mont Belvieu, and Gulf Coast petrochemical projects. He cited 16,000 new jobs from these developments, plus road, housing, and hospital expansions, while noting retail challenges with J.C. Penney closures and H-E-B opening by year end.
