Robinson Signs With Orioles Amid Seed Talk And Yankee Struggles
Frank Robinson and Jim Callison pushed to big paydays as baseball’s Grapefruit League started. Robinson signed for about 115000 with Baltimore, Callison sought over 40000 from Philadelphia while New York’s lineup floundered in a 14 hitless loss to Washington. A delayed steal of home sparked a late rally, and Bouton held the Senators over three innings in a win for Washington. Injuries wove through openings as Rick Monday, Lindy McDaniel, Ivan Murrell, and Julio Gotay faced setbacks.
