Farewell to Barbara Bowes My Dear Friend
Barbara Bowes, 63, longtime district coordinator and former co-worker of the author, died after a five year cancer battle. She led a 16 year, 70-hour weekly team with U.S. Rep. Jack Fields and was remembered for humor and loyalty. Her husband Bill and children Billy Suzie and Tommy survived her. The column recalls shared memories from Channel City days and a Houston security moment with a pistol in the glovebox.
