State of the County Morman touts road focus for growth
Precinct 2 Commissioner Jack Morman told Baytown Chamber members that Harris County will heavily invest in eastern road projects to spur the economy. He described the state of the county as stable and strong, noting improvement since two years ago when layoffs trimmed 99 staffers. The county oversees 1,000 miles of roads, 29 parks, social programs, and a balanced budget with no property tax increase. Unity CE honors Black History Month at J D Walker Center
Harris County Precinct 2 hosts Let’s Celebrate Our Heritage Looking Back Pressing Forward in Baytown and McNair areas February 28. Goose Creek bus collision leaves students unharmed
A 2008 Dodge Avenger ran a red light and struck the rear of a Goose Creek CISD school bus carrying 13 students from Gentry Junior School. The bus driver, a GCCISD employee, and the Avenger driver were uninjured. the driver of the car was cited for failure to stop. Students were sent home with a substitute driver.

Baytown teens attended the YAC Summit in Port Arthur February 15 to 17, with 11 of 21 commissioners and three adults present. Co-adviser Scott Sheley, Mike Flinn, and Christine Beck guided participants who earned the Spirit Award for outstanding community effort.
