ExxonMobil chairman predicts boost in energy demand
ExxonMobil chairman Lee R. Raymond said a world economic recovery will lift energy demand over the next decade and help restore oil industry profits. He touted the company’s clear financials and denied any long term earnings manipulation. Raymond spoke at an analysts meeting titled Staying the Course as ExxonMobil’s stock price rose and earnings remained solid amid lower oil prices. He noted Asia driving growth, with about 3 percent annual demand growth expected, and outlined a plan to spend about 100 billion this decade on refining and production in West Africa and Central Asia. Dow Jones reported Raymond filed with the SEC to sell about 63,316 shares worth around 2.6 million.
