16 Blocks Provides Diehard Style NY Cop Drama
Bruce Willis stars as aging NYPD detective Jack Mosley in 16 Blocks, a restrained action thriller from Richard Donner. Mosley, a hard-drinking veteran with a haunted past, is tasked with wheeling a witness to a grand jury while a growing mob of cops pursue him. The film delivers few clever gunplays or surprises, settling for a tepid pace and familiar Willis persona, with Mos Def as a likable if oddball sidekick. The plot risks credibility as the chase unfolds, producing a steady but modest thriller rather than a sharp hit.
