Baytown police chief demonstrates Tasers at chamber luncheon
Baytown Police Chief Byron Jones demonstrated Tasers at a Baytown Chamber lunch with Lt. David Alford and Councilman Mercedes Renteria III volunteering as subjects. Jones promoted Tasers as safer than nightsticks or pepper spray and noted 12 Tasers per shift with officer training. He also detailed efforts against eight liner arcades and reported three rail car loads of machines seized worth about 678000 dollars as violent crime has halved since 1989-91.
