REL students from Raytown distributive education club travel to Fort Worth for a state conference. Bobby Glenn Tullos Mary Lou Tarver and Nelda Bruce join sponsor Lestie M. Cateh. The event runs Thursday Friday and Saturday during the Feb 24 March 5 week proclaimed by Gov. Allen Shivers for distributive education work.
A weak cool front may or may not bring cooler weather to the Panhandle and Central Texas as forecasters note a slow moving system. It could cool the upper Panhandle Thursday night into Friday with scattered showers in the northeast. Skies are cloudy in the southeast and partly cloudy elsewhere with no measurable precipitation and no stations recording freezing temperatures.
Boston police arrested Thomas Joseph Gildea alias Mason, 30, on burglary and armed robbery charges after a hijacking at a Western Union office and a burglary at a bank grill. He claimed he fled Boston due to police gunfire, saying gangsters used his car in a failed jail escape. Bond set at $5,000. no bond posted.

Secretary of State John Foster Dulles warned the Chinese Communists not to assume safety for their bases if Reds strike the nationalist offshore islands Matsu and Quemoy. He spoke after a two hour conference with Chiang Kai-shek, while U.S. naval leaders observed. Dulles signed ratification papers to formalize the defense treaty enabling Nationalist forces to build up. He urged Peiping to cease threats and avoid war, arguing the United States hoped for peace.
La Porte approves a 530,000 contract with B J Eldridge Co of Houston to expand sewers in Ta Porte. Work includes construction of mains along Sylvan Beach area to serve western town and Sylvan Beach, with possible omission of parts if needed. Bond issue of 76000 backs the project, bid based on unit prices, city to collect from benefiting property owners as details finalize.
Humble Club announces a Friday party at 3230 Wan Brides in the community. President T Ab Boudtoche says admission is a membership cord with a 30 cent guest fee. The club also plans an annual diner and dance likely in April, with the dance moved closer to Raytown from past Worcester events.
