Federal court will hear Bayport case hearing delay unfolds
U S District Judge Vanessa Gilmore denied a motion to dismiss a preliminary injunction opposing the Bayport Container Terminal. The suit, filed June 2003 by Shoreacres and others, targets wetlands and environmental review while a fast track process heads for a May decision.

Hospital chili cook-off sparks kitchen rivalry at San Jacinto
Twenty five teams at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital held its sixth annual chili cook-off on February 20 to welcome rodeo season. Klumsy hookers captured first for best tasting chili, followed by Family Practice and Building Services cantina chili in second and third. Judging included booths bake-off and costume contests with entries like Mad Chili Chicks and Full of Bull Cookers. Cantina Cookers won best booth. other top booths went to Neuro-Cardio-pulmonary HIPPA Chicks and Financial Accounting’s Prospecting for Chili Gold. Take-off honors were Koisty Wardlow Jimmy Taylor and Carol Marbrough. Jalapeno eating crowned by Macio Ramirez. Costume awards went to Maria Garza Joy Coronado and Richard Repique. Event sponsored by employee activity committee.
