Taft Focuses on Chicago Convention Committees
Taft aims to shape the convention by controlling credentials and resolutions committees in Chicago. He plans to leverage pre convention appearances to block Eisenhower’s nomination and press for his foreign policy plank. Eisenhower signals possible Chicago talks but no firm timing yet. Taft will return to Washington July 6 to manage campaign efforts ahead of the July 10 start.
