When REL Class of 1944 Looks Back at School Life
Ex REL Elms Field to Memorial Stadium memories recount back to early airless classrooms in the Fifties and a view of Goose Creek Stream. Alumni recall open windows, oscillating fans, and a central Houston parade rhythm with Thanksgiving and Christmas processions. The piece notes car scarcity, parents chauffeuring, dances at the Community House, and echoing hometown joys at Sylvan Beach and Hog Island with Lyondell Park as a favorite swimming spot. Pine Top Smith’s Boogie Woogie remains a faded memory alongside Tommy Dorsey tunes.

Verse on sowing and reaping from Corinthians
A brief biblical verse cites Paul’s teaching that one who sows sparingly reaps sparingly while one who sows generously reaps generously. The reflection emphasizes reciprocal outcomes of generosity and stewardship, urging mindful giving.
