A Houston hearing before the Texas Air Control Board drew a packed crowd as officials and residents urged stricter pollution standards. Baytown to host Area III Jaycees convention

Baytown Jaycees will host the Area II summer convention at the Ramada Tower Center on August 14 to 16. Ernest Hauser, convention chairman, announced the plans with Mayor Glen Walker, Chamber of Commerce President Charles Tillery, Emmett Hutto, and Jaycee representatives. Attendees include Jaycees and wives from Houston Freeport Lake Jackson Sugarland Texas City Galveston and 19 other cities. several hundred are expected. The program features get acquainted sessions, meetings to strengthen Jaycee ties and a Sunday awards luncheon with a style show for visiting women. Rick Peebles urged Baytown residents to help make the event memorable.
