Proverb Excerpt Cites Family and Neighbor Wisdom
A compact proverb note contrasts kin and neighbors in hardship. It quotes a biblical verse about not forsaking a friend or father’s friend and elevates nearby neighbors over distant brothers. The Danish proverb adds a line about no one being rich enough to do without a neighbor.
