Baytown OKs negligent crash law and budget notes
Baytown City Council approved a negligent crash ordinance after a four month traffic survey. The measure tightens traffic laws, empowering police to issue well defined tickets for negligence, while not boosting overall ticket counts. The council paused action on a detailed traffic ordinance for further review by Police Chief Roy Montgomery. The meeting also covered mileage reimbursements, expense accounts, street paving by Brown and Root, and a plan to convert city land for a summertime recreation area for Negroes, with several budget and procedural notes remaining.
