Baytown dignitaries broke ground on the Perry W. and Lou F. Britton Family Center near the Bay Area Homeless Services shelter marking the Building Hope campaign milestone. The 6000 square foot facility at 3405 Minnesota Street will offer six rooms for intact homeless families, 24 beds, a kitchen, dining area, study space, offices, and a playroom, with construction costs around 864000 dollars.
The state highway department began roadway improvements at the intersection of Rollingbrook and Decker Drive on Monday. The eastbound Rollingbrook exit from Spur 330 will be closed from 8 30 a m to 4 p m daily while the retaining wall is demolished. Construction adds one eastbound lane on Decker Drive from Spur 330 to San Jacinto Avenue and a dedicated U turn lane on Decker Drive westbound. Baker Road and Airhart exits stay open.
