Texas City refineries face flare reports and missed alerts
Power outages at Valero and Marathon Texas City refineries last week triggered flares and air emissions above limits. Both firms reportedly failed to report incidents to city emergency management or police dispatch, prompting scrutiny from local officials. Governor Perry signed a 150 million recovery measure for UTMB and authorized bonds for a new 200-bed tower, with funding contingent on local tax district formation.
