Admission is 15 adults, 8 for ages 10 and up, free for under 10, with a free meal at 7 p.m. Proceeds aid the Juneteenth Committee of McNair in funding Lee College trades scholarships, including programs at the expanded Lee College Center at McNair. Rep Wayne Smith of Baytown and fellow Texas House Republicans tout a conservative record in the 84th Legislature. They cite a state budget under 2 percent annual growth, a nearly 4 billion dollar tax relief package, a 25 percent cut to the business margins tax, a $10,000 homestead exemption, and increased funding for education border security transportation and child protection. Smith notes passage of bills on human trafficking and border enforcement with hundreds of new state troopers along the Texas-Mexico border. The budget also leaves more than 11 billion in the Rainy Day Fund. Smith represents Baytown Deer Park La Porte Crosby Highlands Morgan's Point and part of Pasadena.
