Baytown Youth Fair marks 45th year with record grand steer sale
Baytown Youth Fair and Livestock Show wrapped its 45th year in May raising 170,560 with animal exhibits a barbecue cook off indoor displays and a silent auction. Massengale family claimed the grand champion steer selling for 16 000 buyers ExxonMobil CRCU and LCY Elastomers LP. Josh Massengale a Sterling High senior earned the honor naming the steer after his uncle Bubba Massengale a longtime fair figure who died of leukemia. Channel Shipyard top buyer at 12 050 and Spur Club plus 61 exhibitors shared 11 525 in total distributions. New arena funded by Ralph Oler and others improved safety and comfort for showings.
