Action Was Expected Prayer Edict Stirs Little Fuss
Washington AP The Supreme Court outlawing required Bible readings and the Lord's Prayer in public schools drew little congressional fuss and was largely accepted as expected after last year’s non denominational prayer ruling. The decision affects thousands of classrooms, with officials noting no mandate to read or recite prayers, and voluntary Bible reading remains possible in some contexts. The ruling also touched unemployment for a Seventh day Adventist who refused Saturday work, and prompted limited congressional discussion on church state neutrality.
