Pasadena Citizen Softball Team Becomes Local Legend
In Pasadena a group of workers started a city league softball club. The team, naming changes each season, endured five seasons of tough losses against every rival and even lost to a councilmen crew led by Mayor John Harrison, whose players averaged about 50 to 54 years old, far older than the 25 year old Pasadena citizen squad.

Futchs plan for Spinks Cooney bout in Atlantic City
Eddie Futch, veteran trainer, will work in Michael Spinks corner for a scheduled 15 round heavyweight title clash with Gerry Cooney at Atlantic City Convention Hall. He cites past Holmes Cooney fight as a model and notes Spinks not a pure boxer but has sharp defense and power. Cooney's limited recent rounds raise questions about stamina as both aim for heavyweight title.
