Weird wildlife stories from Texas coast to Hill Country
Notes on unexpected wildlife sightings across Texas. A pink-tinged flamingo misidentified as a spoonbill near Rockport recalls a spoonbill mix up. A white flamingo escaped from a Kansas refuge reached the Texas coast, with uncertain staying power. Enchanted Rock hosts numerous snakes near a water crossing, including possible rattlesnakes and copperheads. A blacktail rattlesnake near Jonestown is notable as the first central Texas sighting since the 1950s. Green sea turtles wash up along Padre Island after high tides. A Parks and Wildlife expert suggests Llano River flood could have moved snakes toward the Hill Country before being relocated to Corpus Aquarium.
