Carver Name Change Not On School Board Agenda
Discussions by a group of Negro citizens on the George Washington Carver School name change will not be on the upcoming school board agenda. President Paul Parkinson said the group missed the deadline for a written request, and Supt George H. Gentry urged a formal submission detailing questions to be addressed. The delegation had sought restoration of Carver name after proposing Carver Anson Jones during integration plans. The board has three other proposals under study but unlikely to report until the second meeting this month.
