Elbert Howard Brown 57, a Humble Texas oil rig contractor, died in an oil field accident about 14 miles southwest of Mont Belvieu. He fell from a 40 foot derrick, hit the well head, inquest deemed accidental. Witnesses included Brown’s brother and other workers. Brown owned P&G Big Building Co and a ranch. He served on Humble School Board and had lived in Humble most of his life.

Baytown resident Brice Barnes, 82, died Wednesday morning. He lived at 600 Tasetis. Survived by widow, two daughters Linnie South and Matt Oto, a son W. O. Barnes, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral at 4 pm Thursday at Earthman Chapel with Revs. Milton Fort and A. E. Weatherly officiating. Barnes was a seamster and member of Faith Tempie.
