Last chance to vote early in District 1 runoff today
Bay Town voters in District 1 may vote early at the Council Chamber City Hall 2401 Memorial Drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Incumbent Mercedes Renteria III faces Fred Aguilar as the runoff winner was not decided May 7. City Clerk Gary Smith reported 519 total voters 12.8 percent of district registered voters and 92 more than in May 7. Saturday precinct voting sites included William B Travis Elementary Jessie Lee Pumphrey Elementary Sterling Municipal Library and St. John’s locations.

Chambers County hosts Cajun Bayou Bowl feast for teams
Chambers County Chambers of Commerce and Russell Ezer organized a Cajun feast for 115 to 120 Bayou Bowl players and coaches. After dining, teams visited Eagle Pointe Golf and Recreation Complex for water activities. Sarah Cerrone, director of Economic Development, said the Bayou Bowl boosts the county’s economy by drawing visitors and involving the three chambers—West Chambers, Anahuac area, and Chambers County.
