New Mouth Instrument Aids Independence for Paralyzed Men
Robert Spencer and Timothy Klinedinst, both quadraplegics from injuries, vaunt a mouth operated tool created by Dr. Arthur Cloran in Ohio. The device, a battery powered, telescoping mouthpiece with a tongue switch, will control a light switch and move art pieces, enabling greater independence and helping with painting and arranging objects. It forms part of an Ohio State University program to teach disabled patients how to use assistive devices for daily tasks.
