Youth Pursues Mountain Crafts To Save Ancient Skills
Doug Reed, 25, apprentices with 69-year-old Paul Lewis in Catoctin Mountains Maryland to learn hand hewn log building and other mountain crafts. He aims to preserve traditional methods and plans to build cabins the old way while avoiding electric tools. Reed's work includes restoring a smoke house relocated for a shopping center.
