Texas lawmakers fail to legislate after February blackout
After a historic winter grid collapse left millions powerless and 150-plus dead, Texas GOP lawmakers approved limited weatherization measures. Senate Bill 3 sets rules for winterizing plants but lacks deadlines or penalties. It introduces an energy alert system and tightens retail price protections while omitting broad gas infrastructure weatherization and cross-state backup plans. David Bloom warns the failure to act endangers Texans again.
