D Day Survivor recalls Omaha Beach struggle
George Ahood, a member of the 6th Naval Beach Battalion, describes the brutal landing on Easy Red at Omaha Beach on June 6 1944. He recalls heavy fire, casualties, and a medic’s struggle as his unit fought to secure the beach before noon. Ahood later received the Croix de Guerre and honors those who did not return.
