Chambers Agent Details Bagworm Control Methods

A Chambers agent outlines early season bagworm control for all areas of the state. Timely action is crucial before worms mature. Bagworms create protective silken bags on foliage and carry them as they move. Remove and burn bags in September after eggs hatch. Recommend 10 percent toxaphene or four percent aldrin dust, or lead arsenate, toxaphene or malathion spray, used only on young worms. For more, county agent provides L-199 Texas Guide for Controlling Insects on Ornamental Plants.
