Texas to Use Cleaner Diesel for Houston Fleet
Gov. Perry announced a plan to switch 75 percent of Houston district diesel fleet to cleaner emulsified diesel at a cost of 25 to 30 million dollars annually to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and aid the state clean air plan. Local governments may receive financial help to fund the transition and curb ozone-forming pollutants ahead of 2007 deadlines.

Liberty County deputy dies after patrol car hits horse
Cpl. David King 32 of the Liberty County Sheriffs Department died after his patrol car struck a horse on a road outside Dayton Texas while responding to an unresponsive driver near a railroad crossing. The crash also killed the horse and King died at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

White House turns over Enron documents to Senate panel
The White House provided Senate Governmental Affairs Committee members with more than 2,100 pages of subpoenaed materials on Enron contacts while denouncing the panel led by Sen. Joseph Lieberman. Lawsuit grows as TNRCC appeal decision looms
The Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission may appeal a temporary injunction blocking landfill permitting. A Monday deadline looms as Attorney General spokesman Tom Kelly notes no decision yet. The injunction, issued by US District Judge Samuel Kent, cited lack of formal rules on non hazardous waste landfills and constitutional rights issues raised by 16 Beach City residents.
