Thomas Gene French, 26, of Baytown and a Jehovah's Witness, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for failing to report for two years of alternative service. He pleaded guilty after a Baytown draft board ordered him to report to Austin State Hospital on April 22, 1963. Two other sect members appeared before Judge Adrian Spears.
