China Aims Higher as C919 Eyes Global Air Travel Role
China moves toward a major aviation role as the C919 makes its first May test flight in Shanghai with Conac, aiming to challenge Airbus. About a thousand orders for the C919 and ARJ-21 bolster plans for a homegrown industry, though delays, high costs, and dependency on foreign parts temper optimism.
