Roseland Park memories from Baytown’s early summers
Wanda Orton, retired managing editor of The Baytown Sun, recalls Roseland Park later Bergeron, Baytown’s original pocket green space near Kentucky Georgia and Louisiana streets. The 1949 pool opening along Cedar Bayou, nearby mini golf, a lively concession stand and bleachers for people watching drew crowds, plus swimming lessons led by George Armstrong and a famed Fourth of July Miss Baytown contest.
