The writer thanks Wanda Orton for The Way It Was memories and shares personal recollections of Cedar Bayou and Barbers Hill. They crossed Cedar Bayou by ferry near 146, visited Playland Park in Houston, Sylvan Beach, Morgan's Point ferry, and Hogg Island beach where they nearly drowned. They bowled in Baytown around 1948, lived in Barbers Hill and Houston, and once hit 105 mph on Decker Drive, noting they never met John Wayne.
