Baytown centers to gain VOCA funding and shelter expansion
New Horizon Family Center and Chambers Liberty County centers will receive 21,226 more under VOCA. The funding, started July 1, was a surprise amid United Way cuts that deflated the Baytown area’s funding goal. The shelter, understaffed at 18 workers, plans a three phase expansion while Baytown Police Domes wave unit will benefit from the governor’s VOCA grant.
