Goose Creek CISD Athletes to Benefit From Pay Raises and Field Upgrades
Goose Creek CISD is upgrading high school campuses with turf for auxiliary fields and soon baseball and softball fields. For the first time in 15 years coaches receive a stipend raise to stay competitive with other districts. Athletic Director Bernie Mulvaney notes the 4.5 percent pay increase applies to all coaches except head football coaches who also serve as campus coordinators. The district also trials double blocking in athletics scheduling for football and girls basketball to use time more efficiently, aligning practice periods with UIL limits and boosting daily student participation.
