Trees vs highways in Bandera County battle over ancient grove
A ranch owner and supporters clash with the Texas Department of Transportation over preserving a grove of ancient pecan and black walnut trees at Pecan Bottom along State Highway 16. The 180 to 310 year old trees shade wildlife, frame the river crossings, and define a beloved Hill Country site between Bandera and Medina.

Baytown Mourns K9 Pecco After 13 Years Of Service
K9 officer Chris Felder mourns Pecco a Belgian Malinois who served with Baytown Police since 2000. About 50 officers from Baytown Alvin Pasadena and Houston gathered at the firing range in rain to honor the dog who alerted Felder to an armed suspect saving his life. Pecco born in Netherlands in 1997 died July 1 from pneumonia complications and was saluted with a 21 gun salute and Taps reflecting a loyal partner who stood by Felder during recovery.
