News groups settle website copyright dispute in Houston

Several newspapers and The Associated Press reach a settlement with News Police Publishing Co and Breck Porter over unauthorized online use of wire and newspaper content. Porter and sites may copy headlines and up to two sentences from AP stories, with attribution and a copyright notice. No damages awarded. each side bears its own legal fees.

Multiple thefts and robberies reported across Baytown area

Police Beat details a 6:30 p.m. aggravated robbery at Airwood Grocery on Park Street where a man shot the owner and stole 50 dollars. Also numerous vehicle burglaries at Woodcreek Apartments on Garth Road, a car theft at CiCi's Pizza, and a 1996 Chevrolet pickup stolen from a mall lot. In total 40 offense reports filed between Thursday and Friday, including five assaults and three auto thefts. Crime Stoppers offers tips at 281-427-TIPS.
