Flying Preacher Hurt in Air Crash

Rev. E. L. Mason a Baytown area preacher and refinery worker was critically injured when his crop-dusting plane stalled during takeoff at a rice farm near Angleton. The craft, overloaded, crashed less than 200 feet off the ground, requiring heavy rescue work and leaving Mason with chest and head injuries. He had served as a missionary to Africa and recently became a Beaumont church pastor.

Paul Caldwell age four and a half, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Caldwell of Lafayette Drive, was diagnosed with poliomyelitis after tests at Hermann Hospital Polio Center.
