Trustees to discuss federal energy grant
Baytown School Board will discuss a proposed 131 248 federal grant to study energy cost conservation in the Baytown District. The Public Utility Commission backs the grant pending Department of Energy approval. The study costs 262 497 with half funded by the district. Eddie Huron Dies A Baytown Civic Benefactor
Eddie Huron 84 longtime Baytown fundraiser and volunteer chef died Saturday after a long illness. Services are Monday at 5 p.m. at Paul A. Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Huron received numerous honors including Eddie Huron Day proclaimed by Mayor Tom Gentry in 1977 and awards from Baytown Chamber of Commerce and Beta Sigma Phi. He began in 1925, aid to youth and charitable programs raised by dozens of benefit dinners.

Test finds if probationers use drugs
Liberty County probation officers now use Emit On-Site Detection System to detect drug use up to two weeks after consumption. The four month old test deters narcotics use among offenders and helps identify violations by those convicted of drug offenses or known drug users. The portable device resembles a typewriter and tests marijuana amphetamines barbiturates with a cocaine test recently ordered. It indicates positive or negative results without quantifying drug levels, and its reach depends on drug type and metabolism.

Weinman new First Christian pastor to preach Sunday
