A 17 year old Baytown boy was shot in the upper back near Woodcreek Apartments at 1601 Garth Road as he and a female companion tried to flee a confrontation. Police say the shooter fired several times and fled. the wound is not considered life threatening. The incident is under investigation.

Baytown 29 year old Michael McGowan died after his 1995 Chevrolet Camaro southbound on Highway 146 North near Staples Drive turned into an oncoming Frito Lay truck. The crash occurred about 1 p.m. Witnesses reported the U turn and McGowan was airlifted to a Houston hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m.
