Jaspe Grant, 75, a Baytown resident for 41 years, died Monday in Morgan City. He retired from Humble Oil and Refining Co in 1951 after 33 years. Survived by two daughters, two sons, three stepdaughters, 21 grandchildren. Funeral Wednesday at Earthman Chapel with burial in South Park Cemetery Houston.

Jacek Tyler, formerly of Irving, has been named manager of Kmart in Baytown succeeding James D. Gekas who transfers to Fresno California. Tyler arrived Tuesday after a two week seminar at the Detroit home office of SS Kresge Co. He led a Kresge Store in Plymouth Park Irving for 28 years and chaired the Plymouth Park Merchants Association while active in civic affairs on the Irving Planning and Zoning Commission and the Irving Chamber of Commerce.

Lone Star Beer Distributors at 3515 NL Main reported a Monday night burglary with about $350 in cash, three adding machines, a typewriter, and unknown change from coin machines stolen. Co owner Henry Schuhmacher found the break early Tuesday. Investigating Officer Liles noted a small intruder possibly crawled under a door. multiple suspects likely involved. Vandalism damaged a cigarette machine and a cola drink machine. parts were taken from two pauses. Also noted: a Friedman car missing a four barrel carburetor from a Thad Felton Motor Co lot. Battery theft from a car at Robert E Lee High School the day before. Vandals destroyed red letters on Vickers Wholesale Florist front. Two youths faced charges: Phillip Tutt for shoplifting and Jimmy Walker for excessive noise and disturbing the peace.
